“Mondays Dark” to Benefit Saint Therese Center HIV Outreach

Mark Shunock Announces February Edition of “Mondays Dark” to Benefit Saint Therese Center HIV Outreach With Special Themed Show featuring the Music of Queen at Vinyl Inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

Monday, February 17th at 8:30 pm

Mark Shunock, who plays Lonny the narrator in the hit musical “Rock Of Ages,” is proud to announce that the February edition of “Mondays Dark” with Mark Shunock, will take place on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 8:30 p.m. at Vinyl, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s intimate music venue. Following the success of January’s sold-out evening, 100 percent of the ticket proceeds from the February show, which will feature the music of Queen, will benefit the Saint Therese Center HIV Outreach. Special guest stars for the evening will be announced shortly. “For this month’s show we are adding a new twist by featuring the music of the legendary rock band Queen,” says Shunock. “Every month the show evolves and it keeps getting more and more exciting. I’ve personally been a huge fan of Freddie Mercury and Queen and can’t wait to see what our talented guest stars from the various shows on the Strip do with this classic material.”

Queen is a British rock band formed in London in 1970, originally consisting of Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), John Deacon (bass guitar), and Roger Taylor (drums, vocals). Their earliest works were influenced by progressive rock, hard rock and heavy metal, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works, incorporating further diverse styles into their music. By the early 1980s, Queen was one of the biggest stadium rock bands in the world, and their 1985 performance at Live Aid is widely regarded as one of the greatest in rock history. The band have released a total of 18 number one albums, 18 number one singles, and 10 number one DVDs. Estimates of their album sales exceed 250,000 million sold, making them one of the world's best-selling music artists. They received the Outstanding Contribution to British Music Award from the British Phonographic Industry in 1990, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. In 1991, Mercury died from complications of AIDS.

Every month Shunock gathers an eclectic cast of guests including stars from Hollywood, the Strip, musical acts, athletes and celebrity chefs for 90 minutes of chat, entertainment - and a lot of laughs. “Mondays Dark” will partner with a different Las Vegas-based charity to raise $10,000 per month for each charity, with an estimated grand total of more $100,000 over the next twelve months between ticket sales and silent auction items. The framework of the evening will be modeled after a talk show format with topics, musical guests and very “off the cuff” moments. Previous charities to benefit from Mondays Dark include Opportunity Village and AFAN (AID FOR AID of NEVADA) and Nevada SPCA. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by visiting www.MondaysDark.com and are limited to 200 tickets per event. For more information please call 702-485-1262. “Mondays Dark” will occur every third Monday night of the month at Vinyl inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino at 8:30 p.m. Follow us on Twitter @Mondays_Dark.
